Rural Law Center of New York, Inc. (“RLCNY”) has created this Privacy Policy to explain how we use information that you may provide when visiting our website and our commitment to internet privacy.  The following are RLCNY’s information gathering and dissemination practices.

In order to fully understand your rights RLCNY encourages you to read this Privacy Policy. RLCNY may modify this policy from time to time, and those policy changes will be in a revised Privacy Policy document that will be posted on the website.  Therefore, you should review our privacy policy anytime you want to utilize our resources or provide information to us through our website.

What Information RLCNY Collects and How It Uses That Information:

When you register, complete an intake form, contribute, sign up to volunteer, or take any other action, we may ask for contact information that may include name, email address, address, telephone number and similar information. RLCNY may also obtain information regarding your use the website, or obtain information about you from outside sources and add it to or combine it with the information we collect through this site.  RLCNY uses this information to operate our site, fulfill your requests with respect to RLCNY’s offerings, support the activities of RLCNY, send news and information to you about RLCNY and to solicit your participation in RLCNY programs, events and activities, and obtain and confirm RSVP’s to events and programs.  We use your email address to send such information by e-mail and may use your telephone number to call you for these purposes.  RLCNY does not share or sell its lists of contacts gathered online or lists of donors who have given online or offline with other organizations. From time to time, RLCNY may send you materials by U.S. Postal Service mail when it thinks they may be of interest you. However, if you do not wish to receive materials by U.S. mail, you can let RLCNY know by emailing [email protected].  If you decide to purchase something from RLCNY or make a contribution, we may also ask for your credit card number and its expiration date.  That information is used solely for processing your contribution, is not maintained by our organization, and is never disclosed to anyone, for any other purpose other than for processing your contribution, under any circumstances.

Share Your Story:

If you elect to use RLCNY’s website to share a personal story and/or photos, RLCNY reserves the right to edit your story and post it on the website at its discretion. By submitting a story to RLCNY, you consent to its editing, posting and other use on behalf of RLCNY’s goals and activities.

Internet Protocol Address/Use of “Cookies”; Log file data cookies

RLCNY collects an IP address from all visitors to its Sites. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. RLCNY uses IP addresses to help diagnose problems with its server, administer its website, analyze trends, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for RLCNY to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

RLCNY may use cookies to enhance your experience while using its website. All credit card information provided to RLCNY is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to RLCNY. Credit card information provided will only be used to fulfill your requests. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While RLCNY strives to protect your information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

RLCNY website contains links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another website for which RLCNY has no responsibility. RLCNY encourages you to read the privacy statements on all such sites as their policies may be different from RLCNY’s policies.

Changes to Privacy Policy:

RLCNY reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to modify this policy by simply posting such changes on its website. Any modifications will be effective immediately upon positing. Unsubscribing or Contacting the Sites:

If you do not want to receive any emails from RLCNY in the future, contact us below. To unsubscribe from our e-newsletter simply click “Unsubscribe” at the bottom of the newsletter. Note that your donation and/or activist records will remain in RLCNY’s databases, but your log-in and email addresses will be deactivated.
